Elf Maiden

I recently posted this drawing [link] titled Elven Dragoon.

I left it open for critique and after reading many comments I decided to do a drawing correcting to the things folks didn’t like about it. That’s right; you get to be my art director! Heh heh… don’t get used to it.
So here we go.

It was said that one eye looked lower than the other so I turned the head making only one eye is visible. This also made it so that the ears didn’t stick out. I also drew the ear more traditionally elf-looking. Some didn’t like the unusual shape of the original ears.

Some felt the heavy armor was not right for an elf and that the gauntlets were too big so I decreased the size of the shoulder peaces and got rid of the gauntlets altogether.

The cape looked too long on one side so I drew it torn. So this way if I drew it wrong I could say “Um, its torn dude, of course it’s crooked!”

There was some confusion as to why I called the character a dragoon when no mount was present, so I took away the spurs and gave her a cute little skirt to show off her shapely legs. Legs, might I add, made for running and frolicking in the woods, all on foot.

It was felt that the dragon looked too evil to be the companion an apparently heroic character. So instead of looking evil the dragon now looks, well, evil. And smug! Sigh, can’t win em’all.

Overall I attempted to give her a more traditional elven look. I made the stance less solid and composed the drawing of organic and curvaceous lines. I even changed her wepon to look like the kind of elf-ish sword you’d buy in the mall.

So, can we now all agree this is what a made-up person is supposed to look like?
